SCOUTING for a late dinner on Friday night led me and my companions to this restaurant we had been eyeing for sometime in Susupe, the Fuji restaurant across from the World Resort.
Pushing the doors to check out what they had to offer for four hungry stomachs was the best decision we ever made. Fuji Japanese Fusion Restaurant provides a unique Japanese inspired dining area, from the huge paintings adorning the walls to the soft glow from the creatively fashioned lanterns scribbled with Japanese characters. It has several regular tables separated with partitions for privacy, as well as a separate area with low tables for authentic Japanese dining.
A smiling waitress handed us menus and laid a small dish of spicy pickles on the table as we made our choices. My eyes automatically darted to the right side of each menu, glad to see that Fuji’s prices are not eye-popping but very affordable, ranging from $8 and up.
I ordered beef teriyake with vegetable salad, while my buddies ordered grilled fish, fish kadun and spicy tuna with vegetable salad. Rice comes free with our orders.
The bowls of miso soup the waitress served while we waited for our order was so good that we all asked for seconds. She happily obliged.
My beef teriyaki was superb, swimming on a bed of onions. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. Spicy tuna rolls attractively served on a platter completed the flavors of our meal.
Everything tasted good, as evidenced by the empty plates we left behind us.
Fuji Restaurant serves wide selection of mouthwatering Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, yakisoba, morisoba, teriyaki and more from $8 and up but you go out of the restaurant with a satisfied stomach.
This is one place you can hang out at for coffee or a very late meal as they stay open until the early morning hours.
Fuji Japanese Fusion Restaurant opens for lunch Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. They are closed on Sundays.
