Coffee Quickies

Photos by Raquel C. BagnolMOST like them hot. Some like them cold. Some like their glasses or cups filled to the brim with ice cubes while some like them topped with froth and bubbles.
If you only got about half an hour break, the search for the nearest or the most ideal coffee shop will be a challenge, but no matter how far it is, a coffee drinker is always willing to make the long drive.
Here are some of the quick coffee stops on Saipan:
DJ’s Corner
The DJ’s Corner in the Hyatt Regency lobby is a favorite destination for a quick coffee. Several options are available — Illy espresso double, mocha latte, caffe latte, cappuccino or Americano from $4 to $5. You can also get it cold: espresso Freddo, cappuccino Freddo and mocha latte. One must-try at the Hyatt is the hot Macchiato which comes in a small power-packed cup. You have the option to have your coffee in the lobby for a leisurely sip, or for take-out. DJ’s Corner is open 24 hours. Cards are accepted. For inquiries, call 234-1234.
3 Strands Christian Outlet
Push the doors of this Christian bookstore in Gualo Rai Middle Road and the tantalizing smell of coffee will greet you. 3 Strands is one destination for a quick cup of fresh brewed Green Mountain coffee. You can get one with your engine running and come out with a steaming cup of Kahlua Coffee, Jamaica Crazy, Butter Toffee, Gourmet Coffee, Cinnamon Roll from the Donut House Collection and various other flavors in no time at all. You can also get iced coffee. Cards are welcome. For inquiries, call 235-GIFT (4438).
McDonald’s Saipan
If you want a cup of brewed coffee badly but don’t want to fall in line at the counter, you can order from the McDonald’s drive-thru on Middle Road or at its express outlet in Garapan. If you want your coffee iced, you can have it in various flavors —vanilla and mocha included. You can have a leisurely coffee break at McDonald’s or have it on the go. Credit cards are welcome. For inquiries, call McDonald’s Middle Road from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 235-8577, or the express outlet in Garapan, which is open 24 hours, at 233-8577.
Mobil Gas Station
For a serve-yourself coffee quickie, you can stop by the Mobil gas station in Garapan on Middle Road for your choice of small, medium or large cup of Green Mountain Coffee. No need to wait, just make coffee like you were making it at home, and have it at one of the tables or on the go. The Garapan Mobil outlet is open 24 hours. For inquiries, call 233-5272.
Popular coffee stops
If you have the luxury of time, you can visit popular coffee stops such as Coffee Care on Capital Hill, Java Joe’s in Dandan, Casa Urashima at the back of the Kristo Rai Church in Garapan, Café at the Park across from American Memorial Park, Aqua Resort Café, Zoom Café in Susupe, Pacifica Kafé inside the DFS Galleria in Garapan, Sweet Escape near Kristo Rai Church, Kobetsa Kafe, Naked Fish and Star Sands Café.
Some like them brewed
